Group Financial Controller

Iniala Harbour House & Residences is looking for a Group Financial Controller.

A senior finance leadership role responsible for leading financial control, consolidation, reporting, governance, and performance management across Iniala Group. This position ensures strong financial discipline, integrity of financial information, and alignment of finance strategy with the Group’s growth ambitions.

Role focus

• Provide Group-wide financial leadership, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies, reporting standards, and internal controls.
• Lead consolidated financial reporting, delivering accurate, timely management accounts, cash flow reporting, and executive-level insights.
• Strengthen governance frameworks, safeguard assets, and ensure financial integrity across the business.
• Partner with senior leadership to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

Financial leadership & group reporting

• Own the consolidation process and oversee monthly and annual close cycles with disciplined timelines and high-quality outputs.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis with clear commentary against budgets and forecasts.
• Present financial reports to the Audit Committee of the Group’s finance company.
• Establish and continuously enhance financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

Budgeting, forecasting & performance management

• Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecast cycles.
• Monitor performance trends, analyse variances and risks, and translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve margins, cost efficiency, and overall financial performance.

Cash flow, capital & risk management

• Oversee liquidity planning, working capital optimisation, and cash flow management.
• Support capital expenditure planning with robust financial evaluation and ROI analysis.
• Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies with leadership teams.

Systems, controls & compliance

• Take ownership of financial systems, reporting structures, and data integrity.
• Drive standardisation of chart of accounts and reporting formats across the Group.
• Lead audit processes and act as primary contact for external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax regulations, and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee tax planning, filings, and compliance in collaboration with external advisors.

Team leadership & strategic projects

• Provide functional leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the finance team.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the function.
• Support group expansion initiatives, new openings, and structural changes from a financial control perspective.
• Lead or contribute to strategic finance projects and ad hoc analysis as required.

Candidate profile (as stated)

• University of Malta Accountancy Degree, ACCA/ACA or equivalent accountancy qualification (preference for warrant holders).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial leadership role. Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.
• Candidates with prior professional training at a Big Four firm before transitioning into hospitality will be given preference.
• Advanced proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting standards, tax compliance, internal controls, budgeting,forecasting, financial modelling, and strategic planning.
• Proven track record of leading finance teams and partnering with executive leadership to drive growth and profitability.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Hands-on, agile mindset capable of operating strategically and tactically.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and professional ethics.
