Director of Finance

Mandarin Oriental, Maldives is looking for a Director of Finance.

A strategic finance leadership role for an ultra-luxury private island resort – responsible for full financial stewardship, controls, reporting excellence, team leadership, and partnering with hotel leadership to drive performance and protect the asset.

What you’ll lead

• Own and continuously strengthen financial controls, accounting procedures, and compliance in line with MOHG policies, GAAP, local regulations, and hotel management contracts.
• Deliver timely, decision-ready financial reporting to support the GM and leadership team.
• Drive profitability improvement through variance analysis, exception reporting, and performance insights.
• Lead process innovation and systems optimization across finance operations.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and variance reviews with high accuracy and discipline.
• Maintain robust internal controls, cash management, and asset protection.
• Lead internal/external audits, coordinate statutory filings, and ensure GDPR compliance.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring continuity and strong professional standards.

Candidate profile

• Extensive hospitality finance leadership experience, ideally in the luxury segment.
• Strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
• Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting or MBA preferred; ongoing professional development is a plus.
• Solid command of compliance, governance, and internal control frameworks.
• Systems proficiency: Excel and hotel/finance platforms such as Opera, Sun, Delphi, Hyperion, Micros (or similar).
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills; highly organized and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
