Director of Finance

Mandarin Oriental, Maldives is looking for a Director of Finance (Full-time) – Job ID: 544984.

A senior finance leader role for a forthcoming ultra-luxury private island resort, responsible for end-to-end financial governance, reporting, controls, profitability support, and team leadership – ensuring compliance with MOHG standards, GAAP, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures aligned with MOHG policies, GAAP, local legal requirements, and hotel management contract terms.
• Deliver timely, decision-ready financial reporting to the GM and leadership team (budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, exception reports).
• Drive profitability improvements through analysis, performance tracking, and operational support.
  Strengthen asset protection: internal controls, cash/funds oversight, insurance coverage, and credit & collections policy.
• Lead internal/external audits and coordinate statutory accounts filing (including separate entities where applicable).
• Act as Data Protection Officer and ensure GDPR compliance including annual GDPR audit.
• Develop, mentor, and evaluate the finance team; ensure succession and continuity.

Candidate profile

• Extensive hospitality finance leadership experience (Financial Controller level or above), ideally within luxury.
• Strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis.
• Master’s degree / MBA preferred; ongoing professional development is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills; systems knowledge preferred (e.g., Opera, Sun, Delphi, Hyperion, Micros).
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills; able to manage deadlines and complexity.
