Director of Finance

W Maldives is looking for a Director of Finance.

A strategic property finance leadership role responsible for driving profitability, protecting assets through strong controls, leading the finance team, and partnering with the GM/Executive Committee and owners to deliver strong financial results aligned with brand strategy.

Candidate profile (as stated)
Bachelor’s (Finance/Accounting or related) + 3 years finance/accounting experience
OR
Master’s (Finance/Accounting or related) + 2 years finance/accounting experience

Key responsibilities

Strategic planning & performance

• Lead annual business plan and operating budget; forecast sales vs expenses and monitor performance.
• Identify profit improvement opportunities and support department leaders with cost-saving/productivity initiatives.
• Analyse financial data and market trends; produce accurate forecasts to help operations respond quickly.

Controls, compliance & reporting

• Maintain a strong accounting and control environment to safeguard assets and manage business risk.
• Ensure accurate P&L and supported balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee internal/external/regulatory audits; ensure taxes are current and properly collected/accrued.
• Ensure compliance with management contract, reporting requirements, and SOPs/LSOPs.

Owner & stakeholder partnership

• Communicate effectively with owners, corporate, and leadership; advise the GM/ExCom on evolving financial issues.
• Manage working capital and cash flow in line with brand standards and owner expectations.
• Facilitate critique meetings and drive clear, actionable financial communication.

Team leadership & people development

• Lead and influence the finance team; set clear accountability and conduct performance reviews.
• Ensure cross-training, onboarding, and ongoing development plans; support hiring as needed.
