About the Opportunity
DoubleTree by Hilton Singapore Robertson Quay is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join its pre-opening Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of Hilton’s global hospitality brand and support the successful financial setup, operational readiness, and ongoing performance of a new luxury hotel operation in Singapore.
The Role
The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Director of Finance and Financial Controller in managing daily finance operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with Hilton standards, and efficient month-end and year-end closing processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing finance procedures during the pre-opening phase and supporting strategic business decisions through meaningful financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise daily finance operations and ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting activities.
• Coordinate and control month-end and year-end closing processes to meet reporting deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with Hilton Finance Standards, Finance SPI requirements, and local government tax regulations.
• Support timely preparation and submission of statutory reports, tax filings, and compliance documents.
• Monitor accounting procedures and ensure alignment with hotel policies and financial controls.
• Provide guidance and support to finance team members regarding daily responsibilities and procedures.
• Assist in developing efficient finance workflows, filing systems, and documentation processes.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper organization of accounting documentation.
• Support the Director of Finance and Financial Controller with financial analysis, reporting, and business insights.
• Prepare financial information to assist management in effective decision-making.
• Monitor operational accounting processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure effective utilization of finance systems including hotel accounting and property management systems.
• Promote strong internal controls, compliance, and risk management practices.
• Maintain awareness of Hilton finance policies, procedures, and updates.
• Support safe working practices and compliance with workplace policies.
• Lead by example and promote Hilton values including integrity, teamwork, ownership, leadership, and service excellence.
Candidate Requirements
• Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification or qualification in Finance/Accounting preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience, including managerial-level operational accounting experience.
• Previous experience in hotel finance operations, preferably within an international hospitality brand.
• Experience in pre-opening hotel projects and finance setup is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of month-end closing, financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations.
• Proficiency in hotel finance systems including OnQ, Check SCM, SUN, OPERA/OnQ PMS, MICROS, and HRLINK.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multicultural teams.
• Ability to manage deadlines effectively during month-end and year-end closing periods.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
