Le Méridien City Center Doha is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Finance Department in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and business performance. The Role

The Assistant Financial Controller will support the day-to-day execution of accounting processes, including general ledger activities, account reconciliation, financial reporting, budgeting support, and discrepancy resolution. The successful candidate will work closely with hotel leadership and finance teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards, maintain strong internal controls, safeguard hotel assets, and support informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement accounting projects and finance-related initiatives as assigned.
• Support Accounting SOP implementation and conduct regular compliance reviews across hotel finance operations.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, presentations, and management information.
• Perform account balancing, ledger reconciliations, and investigation of financial discrepancies.
• Verify financial data, analyze information, and provide solutions to improve operational performance.
• Maintain accurate credit card reconciliations and balance payment ledgers.
• Review group contracts and support credit reference checks for direct billing accounts.
• Support the achievement of financial goals, including revenue targets, budget objectives, and departmental performance goals.
• Ensure timely submission of financial reports and completion of month-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate profit and loss reporting and monitor financial performance.
• Review and monitor applicable taxes to ensure accurate collection, recording, and compliance.
• Maintain a strong accounting control environment to protect hotel assets and minimize financial risks.
• Provide guidance and support regarding accounting policies, budgeting procedures, and efficient use of financial resources.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of hotel finance systems, accounting procedures, and industry best practices.
• Prepare and maintain financial spreadsheets, reports, and accounting records using relevant systems and software.
• Support accounts receivable processes, including posting procedures, collections, and write-off controls.
• Assist with consolidated deposit procedures and revenue control processes.
• Lead, motivate, and support finance team members to achieve operational excellence.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to accounting team members.
• Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive working environment within the Finance Department.
• Manage departmental priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure deadlines are achieved.
• Support employee development through feedback, coaching, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with management, colleagues, and operational departments regarding financial matters.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area (depending on educational background).
• Previous hospitality finance experience preferred, ideally within a luxury hotel environment.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end closing procedures.
• Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of accounting standards, tax compliance, and internal control procedures.
• Ability to analyze financial information and provide practical business solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication, leadership, and team management abilities.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and fast-paced hospitality environment.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability.
