Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa Nai Yang Beach is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Accounting Office in managing financial operations, reporting, controls, and business performance. The Role

The Assistant Financial Controller will oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Office, supporting financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit processes, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital management, and cash control. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Finance and hotel leadership to ensure accurate financial information, compliance with company standards, and effective decision-making support.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily management and operation of the Accounting Office.
• Lead, motivate, and support finance team members through effective communication and coaching.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive working environment within the Finance Department.
• Support internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
• Ensure compliance with Marriott policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Local Operating Procedures (LSOPs).
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, presentations, and management information.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support business decisions.
• Ensure Profit & Loss statements are accurate, with proper revenue and cost matching.
• Review account classifications and ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations with proper supporting documentation.
• Monitor tax rates, tax collections, and accruals to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Review audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensure property licenses, permits, and vendor contracts are maintained and updated.
• Utilize centralized accounting processes and shared services to improve operational efficiency.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Manage working capital, cash control, and financial risk areas.
• Provide financial guidance and support to operational departments regarding accounting policies and procedures.
• Advise the Director of Finance on operational and financial matters affecting hotel performance.
• Communicate financial concepts clearly to management teams and non-finance stakeholders.
• Use financial systems and technology tools to generate reports and provide analytical support.
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and improve profitability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
• Previous hospitality finance experience preferred, especially within a luxury hotel or resort environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting controls.
• Experience with financial analysis, P&L management, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Understanding of audit processes, taxation, compliance, and internal control procedures.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively with senior leaders and operational teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a multicultural luxury hospitality environment.
